The first question about health concerns how individuals perceive their health compared to others of the same age. This is about a subjective perception: how people view their own health. Someone might feel "very good," while someone else in a similar situation might perceive their health as "poor."
In 2023, 84.4 percent of the population rated their own health as (very) good compared to others of the same age. In 2011, this health perception was still at 87 percent. There has been a shift from good to very good.
Men rate their own health as (very) good more often than women: 88.3 percent versus 85.8 percent. Both men and women show a slight increase in the "fair" health perception category.
A negative health perception is relatively low among the population of Curaçao, both in 2011 and in 2023.
