Census in the Netherlands Antilles
The first modern censuses in the Netherlands Antilles were organized by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) in collaboration with the government. Censuses were traditionally conducted every ten years, with major ones held in 1971, 1981, 1992, and 2001. These provided crucial data for all islands of the Netherlands Antilles: Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Saba, and Sint Eustatius.
Census in Curaçao
After the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010, Curaçao continued to organize its own population censuses. The 2011 Census was the first official census of Curaçao as an autonomous country, followed by the 2023 Census, which provides the most up-to-date insights into the population, households, education, employment, migration, and living conditions on the island.
